(Honor 9X Specifications and Review)

Honor 9X:

The “conveyor” of new products from Huawei / Honor does not even think to stop, and with the release of the new mid-performance Kirin 810 chipset, it is only accelerating. Now the turn has come to update the popular last year model Honor 8X, which changed the number in the name to “nine”.

Price and release date Honor 9X:

The novelty was shown at the big Honor presentation in China on July 23rd, having previously “warmed up” the audience with numerous rumors about the new product. Honor 9X has already been pre-ordered in China, and sales will begin on July 30.

The Chinese price tags are as follows: the basic version 4/64 GB – $ 203 (12.8 thousand rubles), 6/64 GB – $ 232 (14.6 thousand rubles), the maximum version for 6/128 GB – $ 276 (17, 4 thousand rubles).

The smartphone was announced at the end of October, and it will go on sale on November 8. There are two versions: 4/128 GB and 6/128 GB for 17 and 19 thousand rubles, respectively. However, the features of the “Russian” Honor 9X should be discussed separately.

Special version for Honor 9X:

Honor 9X was released, but not quite in the form that was presented for China. And there are enough differences. Firstly, for some unknown reason, the new Kirin 810 chipset was replaced with the outdated 710, which was shown in mid-2018 and based on which many Honor / Huawei smartphones were released.

True, it has an F index, which means an overclocked version, but, in fact, this is the same processor with which it will not work to play top game titles “at maximum speed”. Secondly, the smartphone’s fingerprint scanner from the power button has moved to the back cover.

And finally, along with the 9X, the Honor 9X Specifications Premium will be sold on the Russian market. And therein lies another inexplicable oddity. If everything is clear with the number of cameras (and in China, the 9X has a two-chamber main module, and the Pro version has a three-chamber module).

Then with the NFC chip the company’s marketers in Russia were too smart. The cheaper version received support for short-range contactless communication, while the premium version is deprived of it.

Honor 9X Specifications Housing:

The Honor 9X Specifications is a glass and metal smartphone. The earpiece is located on the top edge of the screen, and the fingerprint scanner is built into the side button that is responsible for turning on. All the efforts of the designers have clearly gone to the back cover of the Honor 9X Specifications.

Here Huawei / Honor showed another variation on the gradient theme – a special texture shimmers in the light in the form of the letter “X”. True, this visual sophistication will go to smartphones in red and blue. Black color will be deprived of it. The smartphone turned out to be quite heavy – as much as 206 g.

Processor, Memory, Communications

Honor 9X is the first in the brand to receive a new chipset developed by the Chinese company. The Kirin 810 replaces the popular 710, which was the heart of many Huawei-Honor smartphones in 2018-2019.

The new processor made using a 7-nm process technology, with 8 cores (2 Cortex-A76 cores at 2.27 GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores at 1.88 GHz) and GPU Mali-G52 MP6. In the AnTuTu benchmark, the new chipset is gaining more than 237 thousand “parrots”.

There are three memory configurations to choose from – 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, 6/64 GB and maximum 6/128 GB. By the way, unlike the company’s flagships, they retained support for microSD memory cards. The model doing very well with wireless interfaces – it has dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, LTE,

All kinds of navigation protocols. By the way, about Wi-Fi: the manufacturer is talking about the use of certain technologies that can ensure reliable signal reception from an access point even through several reinforced concrete walls.

At the presentation of the Chinese version, its not said about the presence of a contactless payment chip in the phone, but the international deliveries of Honor 9X with a high degree of probability will receive NFC, because this has already happened with Huawei / Honor. And yet – there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, beloved by many users.

Honor 9X Specifications Camera:

The novelty has quite modest photographic capabilities by today’s standards, but they are at the level of the main competitors from Redmi and Realme. The main module has two sensors – the main one is 48 megapixels with an aperture of f / 1.8 (possibly a Sony IMX586) and the auxiliary one is 2 megapixels for creating bokeh shots.

There are also software “chips” here: artificial intelligence for scene recognition, maximum ISO up to 102400 bright pictures even in the dark (the manufacturer modestly kept silent about the noise level with such a sensitivity). The special AIS Handheld Super Night View 2.0 mode, when detecting the absence of smartphone shaking.

Sets shutter speeds up to 30 seconds to get better photos in low light. And a few words about the front camera. Here it is hiding in a sliding module and has a resolution of 16 megapixels. There is also a face unlock function, but in a smartphone with a retractable front camera, this is still a pleasure.

Battery:

Honor decided not to waste time on trifles and installed a 4000 mAh battery in the smartphone. There also fast charging, the detailed characteristics of which are not disclosed by the manufacturer.
