LG Velvet Review: Price and Release Date:

Apparently, LG has seriously decided to revive its mobile division, which in recent years has not been doing brilliantly. The first smartphone of the announced “renaissance” is the middle peasant, but not cheap.

How much it will sink into the soul of buyers is unclear, perhaps it will remain a niche solution for selected countries or even operators. But with 5G (which will reach Russia for a long time).

LG was really eager to show its new smartphone in every sense. Rumors about Velvet appeared in the spring of 2020; at the same time, insiders called the release date May 15.

But the company, in fact, fully announced the new product on April 28, publishing a release. But on May 15, sales will begin on the South Korean market.
The price of the new item will be announced on May 7, but it is not a secret. The authoritative website GSMArena announced it – about 680 euros (54.7 thousand rubles at the exchange rate as of April 29, 2020).

The price for the middle peasant is simply gigantic, and if LG really wants to sell a new product on it, then Velvet sales will be small.

And if he gets to Europe, then it will be unrealistic for the smartphone to compete with the younger iPhones and constantly subsidized Huawei flagships.

Screen Review:

The smartphone received a large 6.8-inch screen, called the manufacturer Cinema FullVision OLED. The matrix has a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels, and under it is an optical fingerprint scanner.

LG Velvet Screen Review

The side edges of the screen are rather steeply bent to the body. Finally, the front camera is inscribed in a “drop” from above in the center of the screen, but it is very compact. Interestingly, in the first renderings, Velvet flaunted a “holey” screen.

The display supports the Stylus Pen, but you will have to purchase it separately.

LG Velvet was the first smartphone company, made in the new corporate identity 3D Arc Design. Its feature is asymmetrical, smooth form factor.

The case is made of metal and glass, but do not think that it is fragile. The smartphone has received serious protection against water and dust IP68 and certification MIL-STD-810G.

The latter means that the smartphone is protected from extreme temperatures and falling.

The phone is also rather big because of the large screen, but LG managed to make it thin (6.8 mm) and relatively light (180 g). Despite the thickness (and for this special thanks to the engineers), there is a 3.5 mm audio jack. Bravo, LG!

CPU, memory, communications:

There is only one memory configuration. This is 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of permanent (UFS 3.0) memory.

The latter would like more / However, LG continues to meet customers and added support for microSDXC memory cards to the dual SIM tray.

LG Velvet Review Camera:

It is unlikely that this smartphone can be called a camera phone by the standards of the 20th year, but what Velvet can be praised for is the design of the camera unit. It is called Raindrop (“raindrop”).

Contrary to the claims of some manufacturers to make the main camera module non-performing, LG succeeded.

Only the peephole of the main 48-megapixel tower rises slightly above the case (but this does not compare with the ugly platform, which spoiled the appearance of new smartphones from another manufacturer from South Korea).

To record sound in the video, there is a special Voice Out Focus function that allows you to remove unwanted sound during shooting. By the way, the main camera here is with optical stabilization.

The second sensor is an 8-megapixel “wide-angle”; the third is a macro lens with a resolution of 5 megapixels. The selfie camera here has a resolution of 16 megapixels.

LG Velvet Review Battery:

If earlier LG products were often blamed for autonomy, which did not allow the phone to live on a single charge until the end of the working day, then Velvet fixed this problem.

The battery capacity is 4300 mAh. At the same time, there is fast (at 30 W with the adapter supplied) and wireless (10 W) charging.
